Specific entry requirements

120 ECTS including both basic and intermediate studies in Logopedics or 30 ECTS in Logopedics from a Master?s program in health sciences  plus a basic course on Fluency disorders.
Teaching will be in English. Therefore, competence in the English language is required.

Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

- discuss and identify different types of speech dysfluency in children (normal/abnormal)

- discuss and evaluate the criteria that are relevant for the diagnostic assessment of stuttering in children

- reflect on and discuss of the goals and procedures for different types of intervention and treatment programs for children who stutter

 Content

The course addresses controversies and difficulties in the diagnosis and treatment of children who stutter.

Teaching methods

Lectures, seminars and group activities, including practical training in the assessment and treatment of stuttering

Examination

Individually written essay wherein the course participant will reflect on and further discuss the issues that were introduced during the course. The paper should include theoretical information and justification (the rationale/clinical reasoning) regarding assessment and intervention with 10-15 references (recent literature, articles published in international papers).

Transitional provisions

The examination will be provided during a period of one year after a close-down of the course.
